How stratgies influence digital cross-industry platforms?

Projektbeschreibung:
Advancing technologies and changing customer demands are disrupting the environment of many firms nowadays, including the domain of industrial manufacturing. Cross-industry platforms increasingly emerge to assist firms in their approach to manage radical innovation by opening their innovation processes and seeking external knowledge from distant industries. To achieve and maintain competitive advantages through innovation management, the coherence between strategy and dynamic capabilities must be understood and aligned accordingly. Hence, leaders of cross-industry platforms require individual strategies that match their distinctive capabilities to orchestrate the platform successfully. Based on explorative interviews with ten multinational companies from the industry 4.0 environment, different strategic archetypes are identified and analyzed with regards to their dynamic capabilities. The analysis makes contributions to the strategic factors of successful performance for leaders of cross-industry platforms.
