How do digital cross-industry platforms promote innovation?

Projektbeschreibung:
In an ever-changing economy, firms are challenged to foster their innovation process with new measures and an openness towards collaboration. Cross-industry platforms have become a tool for established companies to explore and exploit growing and existing markets and technologies with the help of a vast partner network. Drawing on the organizational learning literature, this thesis uses a multiple case study approach to examine the contribution of cross-industry platform development on firm’s innovation process. The thesis makes three contributions based on the results of the analysis of ten multinational companies’ innovation process, partner selection process and knowledge integration mechanism.
