WaSiG – Urban water balances: Concepts and tools for urban water management

Description of the project:
Due to impermeable surfaces in urban environments we find a severe disturbance in the water balance and the hydrological regimes of urban catchments. A prominent counteracting measure is green storm-water infrastructure which uses permeable pavements, green roofs, rainwater infiltration ponds and others as tools to avoid fast runoff drainage and urban peak flows. The main goals of this project are - The quantification (via measurements and modelling) of hydrological processes in 3 urban quarters with green storm water infrastructure on the meso- and micro-scale - Resilience of green storm water infrastructure under climate change
