CAOS - Teilprojekt D "Spatio-temporal dynamics of water storage, mixing and release"

Description of the project:
Water storage, mixing and release is one of the major catchment functions. Still there is little-known about the connection of water storage dynamics and catchment processes. Therefore unsaturated and saturated zone data of 46 cluster sides in the Attert Basin (Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) were analyzed. Together with information about soil physical properties, macropores and flow paths (dye tracer) these data will be used to determine infiltration processes. The results will be compared to a soil hydrologic mapping approach under different soil moistures and precipitation intensities. Hydrological characteristics and runoff generation processes will be identified by using the model RoGeR (runoff generation research model). Validation of the model will help to find and implement additional processes and parameters.
