Psychometrische und polysomnographische Charakterisierung von Patienten mit Primärer Insomnie

Projektbeschreibung:
Study objectives Primary: Primary targets of the study are the variables WASO and the amount of slow wave sleep shown by patients with chronic primary insomnia in comparison to healthy good sleepers. Slow Wave Sleep will be measured with Rechtschaffen and Kales (1968) visual analysis of the sleep EEG in minutes (and % Sleep Period Time) and will also be subjected to spectral analysis of the sleep EEG in order to calculate more precisely the amounts of Delta Activity during sleep. The primary hypotheses are that WASO is increased and SWS is reduced in chronic Primary Insomnia compared to healthy good sleepers. Secondary: Secondary data analysis will be performed on the whole set of sleep variables in-cluding sleep continuity, sleep architecture and REM sleep variables and other fre-quency bands besides delta activity. Secondary analyses will also aim at correlating subjective ratings of sleep quality with objective indicators to develop a model of how the experience of non-restorative sleep is related to physiological sleep regulation.
