Light absorption and excitation transfer on polymeric aggregates

Projektbeschreibung:
The 'coherent exciton propagation' method is used to calculate the spectrum (J-band structures) of dye polymers. Of principal interest are vibronic coupling effects which inhibit excitation transfer. A sensitive test of models for the structure of dye aggregates are also circular dichroic and optical rotation spectra. Such methods can also be applied to biopolymers,e.g. the light- harvesting complex in photosynthesis. A comprehensive analysis of dimer spectra has also been given.
