Review on low flow events for synthesis report Hydro-CH2018 (“Climate Change and its consequences on Hydrology in Switzerland”)

Description of the project:
The project is part of the focus area “Climate Change and its consequences on Hydrology in Switzerland Hydro-CH2018” within the framework of the National Centre for Climate Services and under the auspices of the Hydrology Division of the FOEN (Swiss Federal Office for the Environment). The focus area Hydro-CH2018 aims at providing the hydrological bases for climate change adaptation measures and to establish a platform for knowledge sharing between researchers and users/stakeholders in the area of hydrology and climate change. As final output of the focus area a comprehensive synthesis report assessing the current knowledge of future changes in the hydrological cycle in Switzerland and the consequences thereof will be issued. The objective of the project is to compile a chapter on expected changes of low flow events for the synthesis report. The Chapter will collect and review existing peer-reviewed and grey literature such as project and agency reports, theses, etc. to synthesize the state of the knowledge on changes in low flows in Switzerland and to the extent necessary for understanding also in regions with similar climatic and physiographic characteristics. The review will assess the current state-of-the- art research on low flow events and elaborate knowledge gaps and resulting further research needs.
