ConFoBi - Conservation of Forest Biodiversity in Multiple-use Landscapes of Central Europe
Projektbeschreibung:
Background and state of research. Assessment and monitoring of biodiversity are part of effective forest management, and require measures that are quantifiable across time and spatial scales. A dynamic and integrative treatment of biodiversity information would provide a novel basis for developing scenarios of interactions between retention measures and other forest related ecosystem services. Multi-scale structural diversity has been promoted as an indicator of biodiversity(1,2). Accordingly, abundance, heterogeneity, and spatial distribution of structural elements such as habitat trees and amount and decay stage of dead wood, will be assessed as predictors of biodiversity components in all ConFoBi Module B projects. However, methods to assess structural elements across temporal and spatial scales are rare.
