PhD program GRK 1322 - Micro Energy Harvesting, project B.5: Advanced thermoelectric materials with high ZT coefficients

Description of the project:
In the framework of this project we are investigating technologies for thermoelectric thin films. These materials are developed for their application in thermoelectric microsystems, e.g. thermoelectric power supply of microsystems. We are investigation the thermal coevaporation of ternary alloys of bismuth, antimony and tellurium. Those alloys are known for their exceptional high thermoelectric figures of merit (ZT). Thus, they favorable for efficient energy conversion. Furthermore, we are developing methods for the thermophysical characterization of thin film materials.
