Doughnut Communities

This project investigates the formation and implementation of the Doughnut Economy through bottom-up action. It builds on the recent uptake of Kate Raworth’s notion of a Doughnut Economy by activists, academics, and city officials (Doughnut Economies Action Lab, 2020; Maldini, 2021; Wahlund & Hansen, 2022). Against the background of increasing evidence for the need of alternative development models, the project explores the potential of the Doughnut Economy as bottom-up alternative. It aims to learn from institutions and groups that implement the doughnut economy and bring actors into conversation to explore and support the (potential) uptake of the Doughnut Economy in other places.
