POLYFORES: Decision-making Support for Forest Ecosystem Services in Europe – Value Assessment, Synergy Effects and Trade-Offs

Projektbeschreibung:
The overall objective of the POLYFORES project is to generate interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge, which could help decision makers in policy and practices to find a balance between the changing social demands on various forest ecosystem goods and services. The German project team in particular develops and applies methodological tools and designs that encourage participatory discussion and communication processes, both on-line and on-site, between decision-makers, practitioners, stakeholders and scientists. It examines the barriers to and drivers of policy-oriented social learning between these actors as a key support to forest policy and forest management to reconcile trade-offs and to identify synergies between different societal demands for an integrated provision of forest ecosystem goods and services.
