Innovationsfond - Governance und Wirkung von Nonprofit Organisationen in Mixed Markets

Projektbeschreibung:
Social service providers make decisive contributions to public welfare and social cohesion; therefore, this research investigates differences regarding efficiency and effectiveness. The current socio-demographic trends and their effects on labor markets together with the importance of childcare for the social and educational development of children result in rising demand for accessible and high-quality childcare. To simultaneously achieve sufficient supply and high quality, childcare centers need to be effective and efficient. Non-profit organizations (NPOs) play an important role in providing childcare. Due to statutory and normative circumstances, NPOs vary in terms of their governance structures. The proposed project focuses on the effects of organizational capacity and governance structures on the performance of NPOs on markets where these organizations compete with public and for-profit organizations (mixed markets). Day care centers are the focal point, as there are increased investment needs to ensure high-quality care and equal opportunities.
