Diplom-Volkswirt, MSc Statistics, PhD Bernd PhD Fitzenberger

geb. am 14.05.1963 in Friedberg (Hessen) Weggang 31.03.2015, Ruf an HU Berlin Professor Bernd Fitzenberger, Ph.D., Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, ist Jahrgang 1963 und studierte Volkswirtschaftslehre und Mathematik an der Universität Konstanz. An der Stanford University erwarb er 1992 einen Master of Science in Statistics und 1993 einen Ph.D. in Economics. 1998 habilitierte er sich an der Universität Konstanz mit dem Thema "Wages and Employment Across Skill Groups in West Germany During the 1970's and 1980's" und trat eine Professur für Sozialpolitik an der Technischen Universität Dresden an. Prof. Fitzenberger war von 1999 bis 2004 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Volkswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Ökonometrie, an der Universität Mannheim und von 2004 bis 2007 Inhaber der Professur für Labor Economics an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. 2006 lehnte er Rufe an die Universitäten Mannheim und Konstanz ab und nahm den Ruf auf den Lehrstuhl für Statistik und Ökonometrie an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg an, den er seit 2007 innehat. 2011 lehnte er einen Ruf an die Technische Universität Dortmund ab. 2013 lehnte er einen Ruf an das Research Centre for Education and the Labor Market (ROA) in Maastricht ab. Er ist Research Associate am Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung in Mannheim, International Research Affiliate am Ifs in London, Research Fellow des IZA und Associate Editor der internationalen Zeitschrift Empirical Economics sowie Mitglied in den Herausgebergremien des Journals of the European Economic Association und der Zeitschrift für ArbeitsmarktForschung. Er war einer der drei Koordinatoren des von 2004 bis 2010 laufenden DFG-Forschungsschwerpunktprogramms "Flexibilisierungspotenziale bei heterogenen Arbeitsmärkten" und er ist einer der zwei Initiatoren der Nachwuchsforschergruppe "Empirische Bildungsforschung" an der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg. Er ist Koordinator des im Jahr 2014 beginnenden DFG-Forschungsschwerpunktprogramms "The German Labor Market in a Globalized World: Challenges through Trade, Technology and Demographics (SPP 1764).
