Forschungsschwerpunkte

  • Bioinformatic methods are used to aid in the elucidation of cell type specification in plants. These methods include expression microarrays, RNA-seq, Bayesian network analysis, isolating mutations by high throughput (HT) sequencing, chromosome immunoprecipitation (ChIP)-chip and ChIP-seq.
  • Live imaging of plant organs. Roots, shoot tips and embryos are imaged in a confocal microscope over time to give 4-D images of plant development. Use of fluorescent marker proteins gives accurate timing and location of developmental events, such as cell division and cell fate.
  • Teaching and developing the curriculum for the trinationaler Studiengang Biotechnologie. Selected students from France, Germany and Switzerland enter in an elite biotechnology programme, and earn a M.Sc. Biotechnology. We coordinate the lectures in Plant Physiology and Biotechnology. In addition, the students spend 6 weeks for an intensive Plant Physiology and Biotechnology lab course.
